WoWTV to counter Singtel mio TV?

Looks like couch potatoes have another option to watch your movies on a video on demand service by local operator MobTV. It is known as WoWTV and delivers video over the broadband network, be it wireless or wired solution.

The good news is that WoWTV offers a free tier which you can watch the shows on your PC without the need to subscribe to any service.

There are other options though, including a subscription service of S$40 a year which gives you more channels to watch on demand.

I have tested some titles and found them to be pretty good on the free tier. If you intend to watch, be ready to get at least a 1Mbps broadband. A 512Kbps will work but it keeps lagging as most of the videos seemed to be delivered at a higher data rate of 700Kbps.

Enjoy Equator HD, Sling HD and VoomHD 3 HD channels for $19.26 for 6 mths

Singtel mio tv is sweetening the deal. Looks like they will soon bundle channels. The first was BBC 3. Now it is the VOOM HD channels.

Now, instead of paying S$12.96 for a single HD channel, you can choose to subscribe to the three channels in a pack for $19.26. Usual price for the 3 channels would cost you S$38.53 per mth.
The catch is that you would need to subscribe it for 6 mths.

Just in case you are not aware, the 3 channels have some overlaps. Some SlingHD programming and Equator HD programs do appear on VoomHD and vice versa.

Singtel mio tv adds new VOD channels

Singtel mio tv adds new VOD channels FILM FACTORY and Fox movies at Home. It has 20 titles per mth per channel. No subscription information is available. I suspect it should be S$12.84 per pack.

Free (1 episode) of Korean Drama on Mio TV

Looks like Singtel has finally decided to entice more users with free movies and drama serials on it Mio TV. This is a good move. If users like the show, they will watch "buy" the following 20 - 25 episodes at a S$1.07 per episode.

Today (1st Oct), Mio tv also updated the video on demand titles. I wonder when will they include HD movies in the video on demand selection list. Just hate to watch 4:3 versions using a high definition screen.
