M1 acquires Qala

SINGAPORE, 4 September 2009 - M1 today announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, M1 Net Ltd, has entered into an agreement to acquire all the issued and paid up ordinary shares of Qala Singapore Pte Ltd (Qala).

Qala is an established Internet Service Provider with a track record of nine years in the business. It offers a full suite of data and communications products and services to corporate, enterprise and public sector customers in Singapore. It also holds the rights to provide both indoor and outdoor seamless wireless broadband access under IDA’s Wireless@SG programme.

“This acquisition will allow M1 to enter the corporate fixed broadband business quickly by leveraging on the presence and experience of Qala in this market. We will use this ready platform to derive synergies and further grow the business as a full service operator,” said Ms Karen Kooi, Chief Executive Officer of M1.

“There will also be opportunities for us to enhance our range of products and services in order to better meet the diverse needs of our customers in this segment,” she added.
